What is Baskets of Life?
Baskets of Life is a nondenominational non-profit organization which ministers to the economically, socially, and spiritually disadvantaged in a three county area in central Ohio. Participation is open to all people. Our mission is to reach the unchurched, to tell them The Good News of Jesus Christ and to nurture spiritual development in those that believe.
Many people we serve are entrenched in poverty, have many more personal tragedies in their lives than most people, and some are captive to drugs and alcohol. Other populations include seniors, the working poor, those who have experienced job loss and financial difficulties due to the recession, and those who are currently homeless. God draws these persons to us who struggle with these unfortunate circumstances, and God empowers us with resources and love to encourage them.
Each month Baskets of Life has a 30 minute program of testimony, lesson or Christian music. Speakers have spoken on family, Christian symbols, personal change, overcoming personal tragedy, the power of words, forgiveness, healthy relationships, letting go of bad habits, etc. Afterwards, participants are given hygiene products or laundry supplies. We also give a New Testament Bible or book of encouragement or scriptures. The members of the Wright Memorial United Methodist Church (aka Wright Memorial UMC) graciously furnish a light meal for those who wish to stay after the program.
We're in our 14th year.
